Big Mountain Productions are working with the Craft Council of Ireland on a new series for RTÉ that will crown one amateur craftsperson, the Mastercrafter of 2011.
There are six shows in the series. The first five shows will place fifteen apprentices on an intensive two-week residential course in the discipline of their choice: Ceramics, Glass, Metal (blacksmithing), Textiles (weaving) or Wood (wood turning)) under the expert guidance of the relevant Master of Craft.
A judging panel will adjudicate reducing fifteen apprentices down to five allowing just one apprentice from each discipline to take a place in the final five.
Show six the grand finale will be recorded in Dublin on 26th & 27th July with the winner of Mastercrafter of 2011 announced later that afternoon.
