ABOUT

Following on from the success of the first five seasons, 
the 6th season of Opry an Iúir returns to our screens 
this year from the Millennium Forum in Derry, 
funded by TG4 and the Irish Language Broadcast Fund.  

Presented by the King of Country Music,
Daniel O’Donnell, who will be joined by Lynette Fay, 
some of the biggest stars of country music, past and 
present, will feature across the four-night extravaganza,
taking place in Millennium Forum, Derry for broadcast 
on TG4 later in 2017.
  
Series 6 showcases some very special guests including 
Big Tom, 'Opry with the Stars', ‘Larry Cunningham 
Tribute', John McNicholl together with Niamh Lynn, 
Ireland's Latest Country Sensations, Mick Flavin with 
special guest Mary Duff and Una Healy, with live 
performance from her new album 'The Waiting Game'.  

Each week the featured artist will perform a selection 
of their greatest hits, as well as an Irish-language 
duet with a well-known traditional singer, promising an 
evening of unmissable music.  In each episode, Daniel 
will also duet with the featured country artist and 
perform some of his own best-loved hits ‘as Gaeilge’.  

Highlights of previous seasons of Opry an Iúir included:  

Series 5:  Trudi Lalor, The Three Amigos, T.R. Dallas, 
Derek Ryan, The High Kings, Clíona Hagan together with
Michael English, and a very special ‘Opry with the 
Stars’ episode!

Season 4: Brendan Shine, Dominic Kirwan, Mike Denver, 
Louise Morrissey, Charlie Landsborough, Jim Devine and
Johnny Brady were the special guests in this series. 

Season 3: Michael English, Nathan Carter, Lisa McHugh, 
John McNicholl, Brendan Quinn, Gerry Guthrie and 
Patrick Feeney graced the stage for this series. 

Season 2: Jimmy Buckley and Band, along with Newry’s 
very own Susan McCann and her special guest Johnny Brady, 
kicked off this series with Robert Mizzell and His Band 
appearing alongside Billy Yates on the second night,
and Derek Ryan and His Band alongside Mary Duff, 
closing the season. 

Season 1: One of the main features of Season 1 was 
Philomena Begley who was celebrating 50 years in the 
business and was joined by a range of special guests
including her son Aidan Quinn, Ray Lynam and Brian Coll.
Nathan Carter also took to the stage for this season 
along with the legendary Hugo Duncan, Sandy Kelly,
Dominic Kirwan, Mike Denver and Mick Flavin.
